Hello, I am a community college student who is looking to apply to transfer this upcoming November. For UCLA, the international development studies major has a requirement in foreign language that states, "Complete through the 4th semester of any modern foreign language. " I have completed 5 years of Chinese at my high school and was wondering if that would cover this requirement. I understand that the 5 years completes the IGETC requirement for language, and I am curious to find out whether this works for major requirements as well. Thank you so much!
You would have either complete a 4th semester / 6th quarter or higher college course or take a college placement test that places you more advanced than the 4th semester / 6th quarter college course. (Check UCLA to see if the latter is accepted.)
