Transfer to UCSC and finish in 2 years?

I have a friend who's considering transferring as a junior in the Fall to major in Film and Digital Media. She is concerned about budget cuts, and is also wondering if it's possible to finish her degree in 2 years.

How badly have budget cuts affected UC Santa Cruz - i.e. class availability, core classes/major requirements being cut or being difficult to get into, etc.? (any comments towards her specific major would be very helpful!) Also, is it difficult to finish school in 2 years as a transfer student? Would she have to take summer school in order to do so?

I could have graduated in less than two years without summer classes if I wasn’t doing a double major. It’s not that difficult. And a double major is just adding one quarter over two years for me.

I can’t answer specifically for film and digital media class availability. However, my observations are that with one major, even slim offerings are not a huge issue so she should have no problem. This could change in future years, though.
