I am a freshman currently attending SFSU, and well quite frankly, I'm just not happy.
The only reason I came was because I was accepted, then rejected by UCSC due to my AP Calculus grades senior year, and I did not want to continue living at home with my family is Los Angeles in order to fully devote myself to studying.
I did everything I could to stay in UCSC, made phone calls, wrote appeals, emailed etc
Yet I still want to attend- I never lost that "I belong here" feeling with the university.
I go there every weekend to visit my bf, realizing that I never look forward to returning to San Francisco. I love everything about that campus and am 100% confident it is where I need to be.
My question is, will be previous rejection affect my admission as a transfer?
Is there some kind of program UCs provide for a more higher chance in being accepted?

(Btw, please do not mention the difficulties of cal state to uc transfer, I have done my research) Thanks! :)

I’m pretty sure there aren’t any programs to help SFSU students transfer to UCSC. If you’re so set on Santa Cruz, you should really give some thought to attending a CCC.

No, previous rejection will not impact your admission.

No, there are not any programs at any CSU that help you transfer to a UC. None that I’m aware of anyways.

Nick is right, if you want to transfer here so badly and want to maximize your chances of getting in, a CCC is the best place to go. Beyond that, just do well at SFSU and apply to transfer. If it provides any encouragement, I know two people who transferred successfully from SJSU to UC Davis.

My daughter feels exactly the same way about UCSC. She was rejected this month and has been in a tailspin since. She was accepted to SFSU but is now considering 2 years at Cabrillo College in Aptos, then transferring to UCSC. Cabrillo transfers more students to UCSC than any other CCC (well, it’s right next door). It might give you an edge since they seem to have many connections and advisors in the know about transfers. (They also transfer a lot of students to SJSU from what I’ve heard.)
