Transfer to USC or UCs

I currently go to CSUN and its my 2nd year. Actually I am planning to transfer to USC or UCLA/UC Berkeley. I've been hearing how hard is transfer from a university to a university. But is it impossible? How actually hard is it? I am majoring in Psychology! I need real advice. :) thank you

Post on the UC transfer thread. Also check some of the discussion regarding CSU to UC transfers.

Anything is possible but, the system isn’t designed to accomodate CSU to UC transfers. Both of their missions call for them to look to community colleges for transfer applicants. All the UCs but, especially the top ones are simply overwhelmed by this source alone. They don’t need to look much further. The CCs all have ready transfer maps - Math 126 @ CC = Math 346 @ UC - but CSU wants Math 127 which align with its Math 229. The CSU/UC intersection is simply uncharted territory. There is no decoder ring, meaning, they need to qualify each course. That can happen but, requires special effort from UCB. An applicant needs to stand out sufficiently to merit that attention - a tall order to say the least.

The state used to post a ton of data about the sources of students at all public colleges here:

http://www.cpec.ca.gov/OnLineData/OnLineData.asp

You’ll note the link doesn’t work…frustrating but, it used to show that there were a handful (like 5) CSU-UC transfers (and none of those went to UCB), a few UC-UC transfers, a few CSU-CSU transfers and a ton of CC to UC and CC to CSU transfers.

That link will take you to the task force the UC system has assigned to streamline the CC-UC path. Note CSU-UC isn’t contemplated at all.

Why do you want to leave Northridge?
