Transfer to UT Austin fall 2010

3.46 GPA (3.72 for fall 2009)
from Community College
50 hours

First choice COLA Economics

Not a lot of EC's except for tutoring if that counts

I'm confident that my essays are perfect
(how much do essays way on admission decisions?)

African American male if that matters

And does any one know of any Texas university's that i would have a fighting chance of being admitted to.

Thanks to all that reply

Is this to McCombs Business School?

If so, I think your GPA is lower than their average… Quite a tough school to get into…

yeah McCombs is extremly difficult

youe have to meet all their prereqs and the average GPA is 3.8-3.9

He’s applying to the College of Liberal Arts as an economics major, not McCombs.

For COLA, you have a great chance. A 3.5 from CC or so usually gets a student in, and you are not too far off of that.

Since you are majoring in economics, you might want to check out the requirements for the major at the link below.

[UT College of Liberal Arts](<a href=“Economics | Liberal Arts | UT - Austin”>Economics | Liberal Arts | UT - Austin)

Have you taken calculus? UT economics requires calculus (3 regular semesters or 2 advance track semesters), though I do not know how that will play into your admission, since general admission is offered through COLA, not through any specific major. It certainly would help if you have taken it though, as it displays you have been taking a rigorous courseload.

You could also look into A&M, Trinity, U of Houston, UT Dallas, Texas Tech, and St. Edwards. You’d probably be guaranteed admission at most of these schools.

Thanks to all that replied and no i don’t believe Economics in in McCombs school of Busn

special thanks to navyarf your information is very helpful
out of those schools you mentioned do you know which three has the best economics programs

does any body know when i can expect to hear from UT
they received all of my paper work on 01/23/10

You’ll probably hear within the next 2 or three months…

I transferred to COLA at UT this semester from UTSA with 43 hours and a 3.48.

I think you have a good chance especially since you have more hours.

Thanks msolo45 for your reply
