Transfer to UT OR TCU

Someone please help me! I am a Texas resident and want to transfer from LSU to UT or TCU. First semester I got a 3.36 and second I got a 3.4 which means my overall gpa is a 3.38. I am applying to the applied movement science at UT and TCU. I had majority A’s both semesters however LSU has the +/- system and UT nor TCU use this system meaning on their scale my gpa would have been a 3.55. Do you think they will take into consideration the +/- system or not? And what are my chances of getting in?

UT actually does use a plus/minus system. But no, your GPA is your GPA. That being said, if you’re in-state you probably have a decent chance at TCU, while UT might be about 30-40%. Just a guesstimate based on average GPA’s admitted though, only way to know for sure is apply.

@danfer91 do you know what the average gpa is for transfers in the applied movement science program? And do you know if recommendation letter help out at all?

“Movement Science”…do you mean kinesiology/exercise physiology?

Do NOT pay $50K for that degree at TCU. That is a waste of either your money or your parents money.

Do you want to coach, work in exercise physiology or cardiac rehabilitation or do you want to go on to PT /OT school?

Please realize that job prospects for this degree are limited and low paying unless you go on to do nursing/PA/OT or PT. You will MAX out near 40K and that is after years working if you choose to do cardiac rehabilitation or pulmonary rehabilitation.

If you are very sure you want to do kinesiology then at least go to a better respected program. UT Arlington has a great program and so does Texas A&M. UT Austin is very good also but you may find it difficult to transfer there.

@carachel2 My sister and uncle both have graduated from TCU and my dad from UT so either school is my dream school. Just depends on if I get into either, I want out of Louisiana and want to be back home. That being said I want to go to PT school after I graduate college.

@Ltctjk …I totally get it! I just wanted you to know the Kines. program at TCU is kind of lacking. UTA grads have a MUCH better rep as do Texas A&M Exercise Physiology grads. I also wanted you to know the employment prospects are very bleak if you do not move on to graduate school. It sounds like you have a plan for PT school.

PT school entrance is VERY competitive from my understanding but I admittedly have not kept up.

I’m assuming you have a plan in place for paying for either private school at TCU or out-of-state tuition at UT?
