Transfer to Yale - chances??

Right now, I am a freshman at a top tier art school and I hate it. I'm applying to transfer to Yale next fall, and I was hoping for some insight on my chances.

I currently have a 3.9 GPA and a very impressive portfolio of artwork. I am also the stage manager of our theatre production and volunteer at a local museum. However, I did very poorly in high school and have less than impressive SAT scores (1320).

I am sure I can write a persuasive essay, and my reason for wanting to attend Yale certainly extends beyond their renowned art program, but I am worried that my high school track record will preclude me from being a competitive candidate. While I have excelled at a very competitive art school, there is little evidence of my academic qualifications.

What do you think... is it worthwhile for me to apply?

depends on how do you define "a top tier art school" and "a very impressive portfolio of artwork". If the top is really top and the impressive is very impressive than you are in.

then* sorry for the typo

You will not be a competitive candidate at Yale with your HS record, sores and only one year in college. I'd suggest bringing up the SATs and applying as a junior transfer.

your hs stats will have more weight than one semester at college

you won't get in for fall 09 xfer, don't waste your time...forget about transferring for sophmore year, if your serious about transferring to yale even for junior year i suggest you dig around and look at the applicants who were accepted and rejected to yale in recent years to see what your up against

best of luck
