I had a low GPA at my first 4 year and earned myself an academic probation. Now since then I've been at a cc with a 3.7 with 58 hours. I want to apply to UT Austin but they require a statement of good standing from prior institutions, does this make me ineligible????

UT requires a statement of good standing? Where did you hear/read this?

I think all schools require good standing from current school. I think 58 credits is enough to rehabilitate yourself. I think normally one year is for most places.

Contra, I found it on this site, [Transfer Eligibility | Transfer | Be a Longhorn](http://bealonghorn.utexas.edu/transfer/before/eligibility/)
it says eligible to return to school, which technically I am, but I’m not sure if they mean academic standing…

Kay, I hope so!

Ahhh, yes. I must have purposely disregarded that because now that I see it I do recall reading it a while ago.

i received an email from admissions earlier today with the question and they said it depends on the cumulative GPA of both schools combined, i always thought they looked at transcripts separately, guess i better lower my standards for schools! lol

Yeah it’s pretty pathetic the way UT just combines your GPA from both schools. I’ve got grades that are 6-7 years old (in a completely unrelated major) that will probably F me over when it comes time to apply to UT this fall. Oh well.
