Transfer WSU Honors to UW- Chances?

Just starting my freshman year at WSU Honors and looking to transfer to UW Seattle for microbiology. Was accepted as a freshman to UW Honors, but chose WSU instead. No college grades yet, but hs gpa 3.84 with IB diploma and credits that could fulfill transfer min course requirements, if IB credit application is allowed.

Will I be able to apply transfer for fall after my first semester once I have the semester grades? Or should I wait another year or transfer to cc for summer or fall and then reapply to bolster acceptance chances?

Even though I was accepted as a freshman, transfer stats seem dreadfully low for students coming from 4 year institutions.

Anyone have experience with this?

I don’t have specific experience, but my son transferred in the middle of freshman year from Oregon State to UO with no problem. He did contact the admissions office in advance, though, to discuss it (probably around December) and they were encouraging.

Like you, he had been accepted to both schools as a high school senior. He also received good grades his freshman year before transferring.

It is sort of an unusual time to transfer — more like a delayed freshman admission— so I don’t know if the usual transfer stats apply.

Just curious - if you’re just starting, why look to change? Why not give WSU a chance?
