Not enough info. Vandy is an extremely prestigious school.point is, you better have a good reason on your essays.wat are ur stats?ecs?PM me ur essays and i will share my thought on it…

Most of us aren’t really sure how selective transfer admissions are.

transfer. I am a sophomore at a highly respected NJ college as a dual major in English and secondary Education. I will be applying as a junior if all of my courses transfer. I attended a highly ranked public HS in NJ and graduated with the IB diploma which was the most rigorous course of study at my HS. I’m applying to the college of Arts and Sciences as a Classical studies major for fall 2013

College academic honors/EC’s:

GPA: 3.945
Deans list all three completed semesters (A’s in every class with two A-'s)
Inducted into Sigma Tau Delta this year (English honor society)
Inducted into Eta Sigma Pi this year (Greek and Latin Honor society)
Newly inducted Brother of Alpha Phi Omega (National COED service fraternity)
Treasure of college Classics club
Freshman bible study leader with college christian group
Was asked by the Latin department and accepted a position as a Latin tutor for the college

High School academic honors/EC’s:

GPA: 3.8 Unweighted and 4.8 weighted
Class rank: top 15%
SAT: CR 610 M 600 W 650
Completed and received the IB diploma
6 IB classes
National Honor society
National Spanish honor society
Girl Scout gold award recipient
Captain of cheerleading team
Work every summer as youth camp counselor at a day camp

My reasons for transfer are my current school does not offer the Classics major and I am not being challenged academically. In addition there is not a large community of Classics interest among the students and very few professors (No research opportunities) in my school to engage academically or in social events such as symposium. I am trying to design a self major of Classics but even if approved by the college I would still have to do another gap year of undergrad courses in order to meet the requirements for grad school. My goal is to get my PHD in classical studies. I feel my essays communicated my reasons for transfer very well and they described who I am and what contributions I hope to make to the University. How much will my low SAT scores hurt me? Although I am applying to three other schools Vandy is high on my list. Thank you for any feedback
