I'm looking to possibly transfer to Vanderbilt for my second year, due to multiple reasons (both academic and personal).

current location: public (state university) in California as a first-year English Education major
demog: female, Asian, Cali resident, first-generation college student, low-income (if 30k is considered low-income...)
college gpa: projected 4.0... 3.83 at the lowest. All of my grades haven't been listed yet...
college classes I've taken so far: English honors course, polisci honors course, philosophy, theatre arts, journalism, and swim conditioning. (not sure if this is taken into consideration)
college extracurriculars: journalist for college paper, leadership roles in on-campus religious organization, group housing (volunteer program), university honors program

high school gpa: 4.1 weighted, 3.8 unweighted. top 10%
high school stats: 9 AP classes taken, 4's and 5's on all exams
SAT I is 2260 superscore (800 WR 710 CR 750 M) and ACT composite is 33
high school extracurriculars: core leadership roles and multiple years spent in Key Club, National Honor Society, Operation Smile, newspaper staff, JROTC, symphony orchestra, etc etc. Also volunteered as a teacher for mentally disabled adults on Saturdays. Yes, I was the super involved, sleep-deprived kid.

awards: national merit semifinalist, some writing awards and various JROTC awards. Oh and right now I'm attending my school on their President's Scholarship, which is a four-year full tuition/room/food/books scholarship.
paid employment: freelancer for LA Times as a high school senior. tutor/English as a Second Language instructor at an after-school academy for two years in high school. That's about it...

recommendation: from my English professor from this semester. The other one might be from my scholarship director, if that is allowed. Also one from my high school counselor, with whom I still keep in touch
essay: nonexistent as of now haha but I've written good essays in the past

applying as: Secondary Education major at Peabody (although I think I will have to double major in English at CAS if I'm accepted)

possible essay topics:
-transferring due to family issues (parents' ugly divorce/abusive father) as well as academic (looking for solid education programs that will challenge me and give me more career opportunities)
-being thrusted into leadership positions as a freshman and scholarship recipient at my current school?
-don't know if this goes anywhere... but dealt with a digestive disorder for the past several years (like half the food pyramid would make me throw up haha), and it made me learn how to manage my life and be more open-minded toward people who are different

THANK YOU IN ADVANCE!! I really appreciate it. I really need chances because I can't afford to pay 50$ and apply if there's little chance that I will be accepted.
