transfer

how difficult would it me to transfer from one uc to another. seeing as how i got rejected from sd, the only college i really considered, i might go to LA or something and just transfer to SD later on. how would you go about that anyway? do you have to wait two years, etc.. ?

or is it easier with community college?

any input?

(from reading posts at CC): yes, it is definitely more difficult to transfer from one UC to another. If you look at the SD stats for transferring, it says somewhere around 97% are from cc, but only 2% are from another uc.
I remember reading about someone transferring from uc to uc. the poster said it was an extremely tedious process, and only got through due to special family circumstances. (dont quite remember the whole thing, sorry) I'm sure you can find more info if you search both the general UC thread and the college admissions thread.
If you do end up in LA, why not just stay there? It's also a great school.

Transfering between UC's is more difficult than transfering from a california community college.

It's do-able but community college transfers get first priority when it comes to acceptances.

Basically you just have to complete the pre-req classes and have 90 quarter to be able to transfer (that goes for UC to UC transfers and CC to UC)

Btw, go to the Transfer forum, theres a large UC transfer community that can help you if you need more information

EDIT: @oneday: in my opinion, the % is so low because not many people actually try to transfer between UC's compared to the amount of CC students who transfer to the UC's so that % is a little misleading

It's easier to go from a CCC into a UC than from one UC to another. And UCSD has guaranteed transfer agreements with some CCCs.

well i know it sounds really pretentious, because even though i know transferring from a uc to a uc is much more difficult, i dont really want to go to a CC. i hate this pressure to be better than everyone else, but i have a feeling that everyone will look at me differently if i go to a cc.

it would be like my IB diploma, AP classes, etc etc was all pointless.

edit: oh and i prefer sd over la because of their growing bio program, unique college structure, and location.
