Okay i'm currently a Freshman at Rutgers U, my plan is to eventually attend U Illinois and so I look at the transfer rates and saw that it was pretty high, would any of you advise transferring in? And if so what year should I transfer?

I plan to attend the School of Engineering. That's what I'm going at Rutgers.

And also how are the intership/job opportunities at U Illinois .

What are your stats?

Didn’t start college yet. I’m a freshman this year.

College of engineering at U of I is VERY competitive. Always aim for a 4.0 but you need a 3.7+ GPA. It’s a great program, ranked like # 6 overall or something. Make sure you look at the transfer guide to finish the pre requisite courses for your intended major to give you the best shot of admissions.

Anyone know about college of business? I’m already admitted into the DGS, I’m planning for ICT into the business school. I think the range was mainly around 3.6-3.8 GPA. Do you know any friends that got admitted after freshman year and the amount of ec activities they had to participate in? I’m from New Jersey, so I don’t know anyone from UIUC yet.

Are you a transfer student and did you apply as undeclared major? What was your GPA?

fightingillini:
Sorry for the misunderstanding. I’m going to be in DGS this fall (class of 2013) but my first choice was the business school.
Is it hard to achieve a 3.6-3.8 range GPA in UofI? (My courses are Math 220,Econ103, Rhet105, and GenEd. I’m not taking a lot of courses because I decided to join the Merit Program.)
Do you know anyone that had intercollege transfer into the business school?
Did they join a whole load of extracurricular activities?
What level of Math did they have to take? (I’m planning to join a sorority, the i-programs at the leadership center, and a new Ikenberry residence program called I-SPARC.)
Sorry for so many questions! I REALLY want to get into the College of Business…which is why I’m planning 9 months ahead of time!
I heard about 50% gets admitted, and of that 50%; 50% is from GenEd. So…around only 63 people from GenEd got in for 2008-2009.
I just want to get a sense of how competitive the applicants have to be in order to get a pretty good standing chance. I’m just dreading that I would fall at the other side of the cut off line.
