Transferable post-secondary-school college credit?

One of my friends wants to apply to Yale next year, but he's confused whether he should apply as a freshman or transfer student. He's a freshman student in a VIETNAMESE university. I'm just not sure.

From Yale website:
"If you have a high school diploma or GED and you have less than one year of transferable post-secondary-school college credit, then you should apply as a freshman candidate. If you have at least one year and no more than two years of transferable post-secondary-school college credit, then you should apply as a transfer student."

Does anybody have any idea of what is considered "transferable post-secondary-school college credit".
Thanks in advance!

Why don’t you call Yale on his behalf? I suspect he must apply as a transfer student.

I haven’t called the office of admission because the website says Yale will not evaluate the transferability of credit before acceptance to Yale.

But this refers to your friend’s actual status as a freshman admit or as a transfer student. The question isn’t how many credits will be transferred – it’s how to be admitted.

Thanks T26E4.
Anybody has encountered the similar situation?
