So I started at a community college last year and got a horrible gpa (1.9) I then went back and got A’s in 4 of my classes and it brought it up to a 2.8 gpa. I want to eventually go to nursing school. I am an illegal immigrant and am working on my papers at the moment. I still don’t have an ssn so my current college doesn’t have my ssn. Is it possible to start at another college as a new applicant? Not a transfer? I don’t want to give out my current gpa and college records so that I can start fresh at the new school. I am also paying out of pocket but the money isn’t the problem. Will they be able to track me and see that I did attend college before? Or will it cause me problems in the future?
You must report all previous coursework, taken at any colleges, to any new college.
When you sign the application, you are admitting that all of the reported information is truthful.
The colleges have access to a clearinghouse, whereby your previous education information is available to the current school. If you are not truthful, and they catch you, you are typically expelled. Then, the clearinghouse flags your information. Once it is flagged, every college has access to your information and you’ll be denied anywhere. Be honest when you apply.
Be honest when you apply. You don’t want to risk messing up your situation any further.
Stick with your current CC. Keep raising that GPA. When you are qualified to transfer into a nursing program, do that from your current CC.
Agree. Be honest. Can you explore academic renewal options at your school? Congrats on your recent academic success!
