Transfering from a Community College to a CSU with a 2.5?

Hello everyone, I am currently applying to transfer from a community college to a CSU for fall 2019. I took community college classes while I was in high school, but I didn’t do too well and I graduated high school with a 2.98 college gpa. Despite working very hard, I earned straight B’s my first semester out of high school and a B during intercession. My mother passed away during my second semester (spring 2018) and as a result I failed two classes and dropped another one. As of now, I have a 2.55 CSU transferable gpa. I’m majoring in Political Science, which isn’t impacted at most CSU campuses. I also happen to live within the boundaries of CSU Fullerton. Do you think I have a fair chance of getting into the CSUF Political Science department with a 2.55 gpa? If not, which of the following universities do I have a chance of getting into?
A. CSU Dominguez Hills
B. CSU East Bay
C. CSU Channel Islands
D. CSU Bakersfield
E. CSU San Bernardino
F. CSU Northridge
G. San Francisco States
H. Sonoma State
I. Sacramento State
J. CSU Stanislaus
Or, if you transferred from a community college as a Political Science major to ANY CSU, could you please tell me your gpa? I would greatly appreciate it!!!

The link below lists admitted averages for CSU transfer GPA’s by campus along with impaction information. For CSU Fullerton, local applicants needed a 2.75+ to be admitted, so unless you can bump up your GPA a bit, CSUF may not be possible.

The non-impacted campuses such as Bakersfield, Channel Islands, Dominguez Hills, San Francisco and Stanislaus will probably accept you. The rest of the schools may be tough by not being in the local service area. Northridge for example required a 3.7 GPA as a non-local transfer.

Best of luck.

Thank you so much! I greatly appreciate it!

I have a 2.7 and got into SFSU, no worries!

Congratulations! What was your major?
