Call me pessimistic but I was deferred from Tulane single choice early action and I'm almost certain I'm not getting in this year. My stats are around 1950 sats and 3.6, two legacies, and 4 ap classes. Tulane is honestly my dream school. Is it easier to get into Tulane as a transfer student then as an incoming freshman?

Generally no, I have heard it is not that easy lately because there isn’t a lot of space. Freshman retention is way up and there is only so much dorm space. But I don’t know that you should be so pessimistic. Is that 3.6 your weighted GPA? If so, what is your unweighted?

Freshman retention may be way up, but I can tell you if you have solid stats and good grades in high school and college you can get in. I have applied to transfer and heard back very quickly. I got in! I had a 1910 SAT score and 3.66 in high school. I currently have a 3.08 in college (first semester only). You need to write an AMAZING essay on why you want to transfer. My transfer counselor commented on my essay. Make sure you know exactly why you want to move.
