In highschool I did very poorly with somthing like a 2.3gpa and a 1000 on the SAT. I am currently at a state school looking to transfer into tulane next fall. I have spoken to an admissions officer over the phone who told me that after two semesters (33.5 credits) tulane wouldnt place very little weight on highschool, if they even looked at it at all.

After this year my expected cumulative gpa will be around a 3.2, what do u think my chances of transfering are?

My gpa is sort of misleading, first semester my major was biology and it is now political science, this semester my gpa will be about a 3.8+ possibly a 4.0. Do you think tulane will place more weight on this semester considering it is my intended major with them?

Thank you for your help

Decent--they have an 82% transfer accept rate so it's SUPER easy to transfer in, try to get above a 3.2 just to make sure though.

Where did you get the statistic that Tulane has an 82% acceptance rate for transfers? I hope it is true, but I just want to make sure before I get my hopes up. I am a senior already accepted to Tulane, but I have a good friend trying to transfer for this fall. Any idea when transfers are notified about acceptance?

A high transfer acceptance rate can be misleading as it does not mean that standards fall. Also, admissions officers put more emphasis on current grades earned, such that a 3.8 average freshman year then a 2.8 sophomore year looks worse than the other way around. I transferred into Tulane with a 3.62 gpa (3.81 my last year at my previous university), strong LORs (since I knew my professors well as I worked on research with them), and a history of community involvement. I had a 3.96w high school gpa, 26 ACT, and spent a lot of time promoting human rights. Hope this helps some of you.

According to US News the transfer acceptance rate is 36%, lower than the freshman acceptance rate of 38%.
