Im going to apply to UNC/UVA/UW madison for spring of 2012 transfer this fall. is it true that since its much later in the year, you get significantly less financial aid? if this were teh case, would you get more the next semester? (fall 2012)

Colleges start with a full FA budget in the fall because that’s the beginning of their school year. They allocate the majority of their FA to incoming fr and continuing students in the fall for the entire year. So for schools with a limited FA budget, there may be less FA dollars available after that initial allocation. So yes, many schools have less FA available in the spring semester. For the fall, it depends on the school, some treat transfers like fr for FA, others state that they have less available, I don’t know what the policies are at these three schools, answers should be on the websites or available by calling.
