Transfering schools before my ultimate goal...

I'm having a slight dilema. I am currently attending a CC in Santa Fe, New Mexico, but this is my last semester here. My goal is to attend Stanford University as a transfer student but I just recently moved to Albuquerque New Mexico. I still need to get some classes out of the way before I can apply, so my question is. Should I go to the University in Albuquerque (UNM) or should I just transfer to the CC over there (TVI). I really don't want to go to the CC in ABQ but do you think it would be better as far as chances go? Since I know they look at CC transfer students a little more closely than 4-year college students...any advice?

I think the UC system gives priority to California community college students--not sure about out-of-state ones.

If I were you, I would go to CC, that way, you're not wasting money and you're not settling.

yah. it's almost impossible for me to go to a Cali comm. college unless i lived with my sister, haha and my parents would NOT be for that. I guess i'll just got to the CC in ABQ right?

Well, it's your last semester isn't it? It can't be that bad--it's probably the same as any other community college in California! :)

well my last semesterin santa fe...i still have like 6 more classes to take...so i need about 2 more semesters...

Oh, for some reason, I saw "move" but I thought it said "moved from California to New Mexico". Sorry.

But let's say you move after this fall semester to Albuquerque. Can't you take winter intercession (unless you don't have it there) and summer classes? I mean, you can take 4 classes in Spring and 1 or 2 in the summer. Depending on what classes they are, you might be able to finish the last one when you transfer.

true. I dont think there is a winter intersession (can't spell). I'll find out. I think I need to make an appointment with an advisor and see how many classes i have left...because I'm pretty sure its around 6

Six sounds feasible for spring and summer. Reserve the C/NC for the harder classes! And take easier classes if they're not major reqs! Hah! :)

ooh...can you do that? C/NC? but then those classes won't work towards my degree....oh bad news, i just looked and i actually have 9 more classes, cuz of core reqs. :(

Well, for UCs, they allow a maximum of four classes to be taken for C/NC.

I should have done that, but most of the community college classes are easy unless you're taking a math or a science.

Bleh, that sucks. How many units do you have and which semester is this for you (5th, 6th, etc?)?
