If you were to stay at MTSU, would you graduate with a Bachelor’s? Does MTSU have an articulation agreemetn with Chatt State that if you have a certain GPA, you are automatically in? If you took classes this summer and next year at MTSU could you, with a heavier course load, meet the requirements to get into Austin Peay’s program starting in 2015? These types of programs are difficult to get into. You would probably have a better chance in TN than as an OOS student in NY. Have you gotten your CNA certificate yet? If not, do so ASAP, and start working in a hospital to get some experience and earn some money. That will help on your application anywhere and is required by Chatt State.

Yes M2CK, she would take the RTT exam after finishing at Chatt state. Think of Chatt State as the coordinator for clinicals for this program, although there is classwork also. The clinicals are 12 months, 3 semesters long after completeing 90 prereq hours from MTSU

what path would you suggest for this young lady?

Even though I hated it, I would work as if I were staying at MTSU, but hope to go and apply to go to Austin Peay. I would try to get one semester ahead in either school, then spend that time living and working as CNA in NY before beginning the official therapy program.

Transferring to NY is so full of financial and potential problems. If you can’t afford to finish that program can you even get into another one anywhere, or do you have to start over? That would be money wasted. Living with the sister sounds good, but that puts a financial burden on her. If you had to help with the rent, then it is even more unaffordable. You have an additional person living in a small space for 3 years. That leads to conflict. If living with the sister didn’t work out, living arrangements and costs throw a monkey wrench in that plan. I would find out all the expectations before even considering it. But I wouldn’t seriously entertain it.
You have a 0 efc. There is not much help to be had from mom and dad. Get the free education, then move to NY if you want. You only have 2 years max at MTSU, then you go off to Chattanooga. I know it sounds like a long time, but it’s really not.
