I am currently a freshman at a D3 college in Ohio playing basketball. I already know I want to transfer and I’d like to go to OSU. I looked up their average transfer GPA and it’s around a 3.1. I am going to apply over winter break which means I can only send my first semester transcripts of college. I will get around a 3.5 for the first semester. I heard since I am only sending my first semester that they will want my HS transcripts also. I got a 3.3 in HS and that was due to a couple AP classes that I got a C in which lowered my grade but other than that I got all As and Bs. I am not a great rest taker and got a 23 on my ACT I’m not sure if they will look at that . Also to add in I am a finance major . What are the chances you guys think I have to get into the school next year? I will obviously write an essay and have letters of recommendation to help my cause, let me know what you guys think!!!
I would suggest thinking your application as a whole but first contact with the department to get their opinion. The popularity of the major may either work in your favor or else in terms of the average GPA. If you have good extracurriculars I think it will work on your favor as well. High school performance would not matter so much in my opinion (unless there is someone who is equal in undergrad terms but they have a higher high school grafe then you)
I think 3,5 GPA would get you in but it really depends on the department and how good you are compared to studenrs who applied.
