So I’m currently a freshman at a university possibly considering transferring. If I were to transfer for fall 2018, would admissions be heavily based off high school stats (GPA & SAT)? Or would they consider my first semester freshman year grades. I didn’t do well during high school but I’m pretty confident ill finish the semester with a 3.5+ at the very least a 3.4. Would transferring to a school, something like Rutgers, be possible considering my mediocre high school stats (3.3W 1170 SAT)? Not sure how things work for transfer admissions so any advice would be helpful, thanks in advance.
Yes, transferring with less than a year of college at the time of application means that your HS record will be heavily weighted. Usual rule of thumb is that if you couldn’t get in as a HS senior you probably won’t get in as a university freshman. Rutgers is specific that you will have to submit your HS transcript and SAT scores; they take a lot of transfer students, but many are community college transfers. There is a lot of good advice on the college sites.
