OK, so I'm currently at Purdue University (out of state, from Illinois) majoring in political science. I came here to try to transfer to professional flight and NROTC...but after realizing an NROTC scholarship is highly unlikely right now and in the future..I decided I wasn't going to pay 45k$+ to learn how to fly airplanes. I also had kind of always thought I should major in something more "academic". My first semester GPA was a 3.83 with 18 credit hours (including a few Navy credits) and my second semester GPA is due to be on track with that. Since my NROTC/Flight plan is now defunct, I've decided I'd like to try business, specifically management. I've applied to the University of Illinois as well as the University of Illinois at Chicago as a transfer student. For U of I, I put down political science, for UIC I put down management, for my majors. The reason for this is because I did my U of I app a good while ago, before I had decided on business, and obviously my UIC app came after I decided to do business.

My problem lies with the fact that I will be ineligible to transfer into business at U of I from Liberal Arts if I get in. They apparently only let freshmen transfer into the college of business. So, I'm looking towards UIC. The only problem is UIC, for some reason, requires 24 credit hours at the TIME of application. I guess this means they don't accept Freshmen transfer applicants, at least not Freshmen who have only done one semester at a four year institution. So, it looks like my only option is to do some classes at a community college after this term is up at Purdue, and then apply for Spring 2011 for UIC.

Does this seem right? Or am I not reading something right? Does anyone know of sophomores being accepted into business at U of I? I don't understand why I can't just come in with 21 credit hours at UIC and do the required business classes there. If I have to take 20 credit hours for a couple semesters, I'll do it, or I can do an extra semester. It seems like I shot myself in the foot by earning credit in Aviation Technology classes that won't transfer. Now I have to apply as a transfer student, and this seems ten times more difficult than applying as a freshman. For what it's worth, I'll have almost all my general-education requirements done by this semester.

I apologize for the poor structure (and probably clarity) of my post...I just have a lot on my mind that I'm trying to dump and get answered. No one I have talked to from either university has been a big help regarding this, and the internet hasn't helped much either.

Thanks sincerely in advance for all responses.
