Transferring after one year in college?

I currently am not happy about my college ( I am attending a 4 year college) and I want to transfer to a different college. I live in the east coast but I want to transfer to a college on the west coast. I am from the west coast and I love it there (mainly the people, laid back vibe, and weather). My cumulative GPA in college is 3.8 but my standardized test scores are average/low. My high school GPA was 3.9 unweighted (without honors or AP corses). Do I have a shot at transferring to schools such as USC, UCLA, UC Davis, UCSB, Pitzer College, or University of Washington-Seattle? My college GPA is high but should I just transfer after my sophomore year so that less weight is placed on my standardized test scores and my lack of AP and honors courses in high school?

If you aren’t happy at your college, why are you even considering returning for a second year?

It would make more sense to take ta semester or year off and work while you apply for transfer for either Spring or Fall 2015.

Instead of working, I would just go to your local cc and continue there for transfer. UC’s are becoming more strict in major reqs esp for impacted majors and some may not take you if you’re missing more than 3 classes for lower div coursework. Additionally you want atleast 60 units before you transfer, other wise schools look at your highschool work.

Keep in mind that UC’s don’t admit students having anything less than a junior standing (60 semester units).
