Hello! Throughout high school I was able to accumulate about 27 units worth of AP credit and 4 units from a dual enrollment Geology class with CSUB, this means I can transfer to a UC for Fall 2019 but since I am taking all my needed CCC classes in Fall 2018 and Spring 2019 I won’t really have a GPA apart from the one dual enrollment course at CSUB. I did receive an A for the Geo course so I do technically have a 4.0, but made up of one class. Is that the GPA they will consider as part of admission? Will they look at my AP scores instead or just write it off as like an undesirable GPA? If anyone could offer some insight that would be wonderful, thanks again!
Some more context if u want: I am TAGing to UCSC (assuming they accept my app!) but i’m taking my chances as UCB and UCI with regular admission, so this mainly applies to those schools. Thanks again for any help
I wouldn’t say with certainty you’ll be fine without knowing more because generally you do better with at least 7 courses by end of fall (some in summer) and it’s not good to pile too many major req last term, so I don’t know where you stand with that. Will both English be done by fall? Quant math? Do you need to take courses that some UCs will say duplicate AP exams, which means you’ll lose units? Students do transfer in one year often but we don’t know your full details and they always prefer courses over AP. So, yes you stand a shot and the TAG should go through, assuming you comply with its rules. The other UCs depend on how they see things.
@Ohm888 I only have my English req to finish during Spring, and I am only taking one course that duplicates AP credit because UCB won’t accept a 3 on AP Bio as fulfilling the Biology req for their Psych major. Thanks for the honest insight! I guess I will just have to wait and see, I have pretty good essays and ec’s so I am hoping that will help.
