Transferring - AP Classes Filling GE Prereqs?

Hi,

I've got a question. For the "course pattern requirements," the ones semester-wise with two english, one math, four differing in at least two categories, I was wondering if an AP English Language and Comp score of four could be used to satisfy one of the english semester-long classes?

My CCC offers three English classes that can be chosen from to satisfy the two English classes. I'm hoping to save some time and take only one of those classes, if I can, rather than two.

Thanks!

Check with your CCC.
It satisfies Area 1A at mine.

Which CCC are you at? I was able to skip 1A and still get those credits with a 4

I’m going to San Joaquin Delta College. I got a 4 on the AP English Language and Comp test. The agreement for 08-09 is here:

[ASSIST Report: SJDELTA 08-09 UC Transfer Admissions Eligibility Course List](<a href=“Welcome to ASSIST”>Welcome to ASSIST)

Basically, this happens on the CCC’s end? IE as I got a 4 on the test, the way it should work in my favor is they would credit me for English 1A or another one of those courses? Meaning, the UC system wouldn’t credit an AP class for “Area UC-E - English Composition” to meet one of their requirements?

Are you completing IGETC or the “required pattern requirements”? If you want to use AP credits for fulfilling IGETC, check with your CCC. Once IGETC certified, you’re done with general education requirements at all UC’s (barring specific graduation requirements by each UC). If not, I think you have to check each UC as they have different policies regarding AP credit.
