Ap English Exam to fulfill IGETC-1A-English Composition

If i use an ap score on an ap english exam that i scored a 3 on to apply to igetc for the first half of the english area, does that mean i only need to take one english course to transfer to a UC?

The reason I'm asking this is because at the assessment center, the person in charge said a lot of people passed out of the english area with an ap exam, but when they went to berkeley, the counselors there said they wouldn't accept that the ap english score and they had to take the english class again.

I've been researching this for igetc, and it says that ap score can be applied by just looking at this website: Using Advanced Placement to Satisfy UC Eligibility and IGETC (2008-09)

I'm applying soon and I wanted to know if it would be a disadvantage to use that ap score, or should i take the class just for insurance.

The problem i have with this situation is that if you look on the ap score credit on berkeley's page it says that english comp will not be cleared, but for igetc it says its ok for general education in letters and sciences. This is a really technical question, so if anyone who successfully transferred can verify that this info is accurate, please reply.

Maybe this has something to do with UC Transfer Admission Eligibility courses vs. IGETC. I did a thread about this before. Even with AP scores, do you still need to take the required courses in the UC Transfer Admission Eligibility courses, or can ap scores be applied?

depends on your CC -- mine let me fly. I got a 3 in english language and english lit (2 diff tests) and they just gave me credit for English 1a at the school. it doesnt really matter what the UC gives u credit for bc as long as your CC IGETC certs you, you're chill ;)

hey I got a 3 on my AP English Language test and I got to do English/Writing 1B and skip 1A. I called UCLA and they said they go with whatever the cc goes with, so it should be fine.

what do you mean by goes with whatever the cc goes with?

do you mean as long as igetc is completed?
