Transferring back to a college where you declined admission.

I'm a first year Purdue student and can no longer afford the out of state tuition due to the financial crisis. I applied to UIC last year and was accepted as a biochem major but I declined there and chose to go to Purdue for pharmaceutical science. I wish to reapply to UIC for next year but I want to know if choosing to go somewhere else freshman year will affect my chances of admission. Thanks

Stats:
ACT:29
HS GPA:3.86
No college GPA yet
Grades so far:
Bio:B
Pre Calc:B
Chem:C (working on it)
Psych:A

Probably not; if you're willing to pay the application fee, the school will realize you're serious.

There are many examples of students (including my own S) who declined admission to a school as a freshman... then applied as a transfer and were accepted.

It will not be held against you. And acceptance earlier is a good sign that you fit what they want.

Good luck.
