I'm looking over the articulation agreement between UCSC and my CC (De Anza) for computer science and I'm not really sure if I should have these "foundation courses" finished by the fall quarter prior to transfer (when I submit my application/apply for TAG) or if it's fine to have these done by the end of that school year.

The problem is that my sequence has me finishing many of these courses (Math 1D, Linear Algebra, Physics 4B) after that fall quarter. Also, if I do not take discrete math alongside Math 43 or Math 1A, I'll have to finish discrete math after that fall quarter, or after applying.

So are the classes only finished at the time of your application taken into account or do they look at what you will finish by the time you're done at CC?

Also, I've heard of people getting 3.4 GPA's and only missing the Physics courses (which aren't foundation courses) and still getting denied. Any insight?

Looks like you are required to complete as many as possible before applying, but you must complete most or all of them by time you begin at BSE. When you fill out the application (TAG or UCApp), you will be filling in the classes you’re expecting to take for the remainder of the academic year. So, for example, if you have not yet taken some of the courses by this fall, then they will be looking that you have them scheduled for winter or spring.

I agree the wording is not absolutely clear from assist, so if you have any other doubts, then you should definitely contact the admissions office at UCSC or contact the local area transfer representative for UCSC (a UCSC employee) as ask them specifically. You should be able to find the transfer reps from their website.

I think I have an understanding now of where I need to be before I apply for TAG. I’m just starting my freshman year and I should have everything done in the foundation course list done by fall, except for Calc 1C which I should be taking that fall.
