Transferring Colleges

Is it easier to get into a school as a transfer student? Also, is there any other important info I should know about when it comes to transferring?
Thanks!

At most schools it is more difficult to get into as a transfer, except for those which have transfer agreements from various community colleges.

that is actually very incorrect information, most colleges are easier to get into as a transfer than freshmen student. you can get into top schools such as USC with a +3.0 college gpa for example.

^
I think USC has an articulation agreement like Erin’s Dad was talking about.

Some schools are easier to get in as a transfer than as a freshman. For instance the University of Oklahoma just requires a 2.5 college GPA for transfers but the vast majority of enrolled freshmen had a >3.0 and a 23 ACT or higher. It depends on the school.

Would it be easier or more difficult to get in to a more selective school such as Wesleyan, Vassar, or Oberlin as a transfer student?

Google the name of each of those colleges along with Common Data Set. The CDS gives you data for admission rates for both fr and transfers.

I suggest you go to the Resources and Transfer 101 sticky threads at the top of this forum for basic information about the transfer process.

It really all depends on the school. Some schools are more transfer friendly than others.

thecrazycimpz- oberlin, vassar, and wesleyan accept very very few transfer students. i wouldn’t even bother applying if your serious about going to a different school.

^Wesleyan:

http://www.wesleyan.edu/ir/data-sets/cds2012-13.pdf

This is why it’s usually best to direct members to the data and let them make a determination on their own.
