Hi, I am a freshmen at Syracuse University with a 3.7 GPA and was wondering what some good schools would be to look at to transfer.
What is it that you don’t like about Syracuse? What do you want that’s different?
I love Syracuse just want a better academic school.
What are you studying at Cuse? What don’t you think you are getting academically?
Agree with others that we need more info: what are you studying, what is your budget and what do you mean by “better academics” (more serious students? more courses in your major? higher ranking?).
Undecided, but was planning on trasnferring to a business school. I feel I could excell at a higher ranked school and want to weigh out my options.
How much can you spend? It is very hard to get aid as a transfer student.
Money isnt a problem
Be prepared to be disappointed if you use a single metric in this quest. This board is littered with people asking for advice about transferring out of highly ranked schools, because that’s what they did.
What do you mean?
I mean that students who only use rank to choose their schools are sometimes surprised that they don’t like the school they end up at. You haven’t given any other guidance than 1) you really like your current school, and 2) you want a higher ranked school.
@Maryland2021 - The most important factor for success isn’t where you go to school its how involved in your school you are. Since you love Syracuse, and you are currently undecided, my advise you would be to finish out your undergrad and figure out what you want to do next, whether the is B- School, Law school or some other graduate program. An undergraduate degree from Syracuse isn’t going to preclude you from any path you choose to take.
As a full pay student with an excellent college GPA, it is reasonable–in my opinion–to try to upgrade to a higher ranked business program if you can justify why you want to attend any target school beyond rankings. This means that you should research the academic offerings in the business school at each of your target schools in addition to any other factors that would support your desire to transfer.

It might help if you had an idea of what area of business you would like to study or any particular career goal. Different business programs have different strengths.
A legitimate reason for transferring might involve better internship opportunities & better career prospects. Many lower ranked universities offer business school concentrations that offer better opprtunities than higher ranked schools for certain specialty areas.
If accounting is your interest, then certain schools are clearly better than your current school. Same for finance, management, marketing, information sciences, data analytics, real estate, international business, MIS, insurance/risk management, entrepreneurship, supply chain management, quantitive analysis/economics, statistics, CS & business, etc.
In short, you need to be better able to articulate your reasons for wanting to transfer to a better school in order to increase your odds of acceptance and in order for you to better evaluate whether or not transferring would be a wise move.
