I was wondering if anyone has experience with transferring credits from another university to American - how generous are they with giving credit? Also, can you get in with a lower GPA as a transfer than as an incoming freshman? The College Board says the transfer acceptance rate was 66% - that seems pretty high to me.
Hey! I don’t know a huge amount, but I did meet with an admissions counselor at AU recently. I learned that transfer students have a lot more leeway in admissions than high school students. This is because with high school students, who knows how they might change or react to moving out for the first time and handling college courses. They want to take the very best of the best to minimize the chances of them reacting badly to the changes and failing out. For transfer students, we’ve already proven we can handle college courses, and they kind of know what to expect from us. They know we’re non-traditional students as well, so they realize there are other factors and they look at our applications differently. I’m really surprised at the 66% acceptance rate for transfer students… That gives me a lot of hope! Good luck!
