Transferring for Financial Reasons

Hi. I'm perfectly happy with my current institution, but Harvard's new financial aid program gave me pause.

To be perfectly honest, I am currently considering preparing transfer applications to several of the richer schools in the nation for financial reasons. My institution, though I happen to enjoy it so far, lacks the large financial base of some of these schools, and unlikely to follow in Harvard's 10% program.

Would transferring for financial reasons be considered reasonable or not? I'm sure after the recent financial aid announcements many people will be considering transferring for financial reasons, and so maybe this topic will interest others as well.

Thanks for reading.

PS I was waitlisted when I applied as a high school senior, though I'm not sure if that factors in or not.

Ditto. Except I'm not quite as satisfied with my current institution.
