hi, i am currently a sophomore at arizona state, and am originally from los angeles, california. I have been getting horrible grades and have failed many of my classes throughout my 3 semesters so far at asu. i am planning on withdrawing and looking at other options. one of my options is transferring to a california community college. i was just wondering if it is too late to apply for classes spring 2017 at a ccc, and will i have to end up applying in the fall
You need to contact the CA CCs that interest you, and ask them. Each might have different deadlines.
ok thank you, and also will i be eligible for the TAG program?
That is another thing to ask them. It really is OK to ask! They are the experts on this, and they have worked with lots of students like you.
I also failed classes at the university I went to my freshman year. Stuff happens but it makes you a stronger student in the long run. My advice is this: try to recover from your failed classes asap. Retake them or see if ASU offers academic renewal. I failed 2 classes my freshman year and got a D in another and it has annihilated my GPA to where I am not eligible for any of the decent universities in California. You may raise your CCC GPA (mine is currently a 3.7) but keep in mind universities look at your cumulative GPA (which will include your failed ASU classes) in the admissions process. To be TAG eligible you have to have a 3.0. Another thing: CCC counselors are terrible and do not know what they’re talking about - I’ve been misguided several times. It really is up to you to keep yourself on the right track for transfer once you get to a CCC! Assist.org and the CSU/UC websites will help you out with what you need for your major!
