I transferred from a CCC to a UC and nearly finished my degree except for one class. I was wondering if it would be possible to go back to a CCC and transfer to another UC. I know that most UCs don't accept second bachelor's degree applicants for most programs. If I didn't graduate from the 1st UC, can I apply as a transfer and not mention my prior university work. Essentially I'd be pretending to have never have transferred in the first place. It seems like a longshot since then someone could just go to one school for a year, not like it, and then just pretend it never happened which wouldn't make sense. Anyway, any thoughts are appreciated

Just to clarify, you would do this after you have graduated, correct? It wouldn’t make sense to do it when you only have one more course. First off, I would never lie to a university or college because it could get you in trouble and it’s just not worth it. There are schools that accept people who are seeking their second BA, which is something you would be better off asking about in this forum. No one is really going to give advice about lying to schools because it’s not advisable. I’m only in CC myself so you probably know more about all this stuff than me, but why don’t you look into getting a Masters instead? Even in you’re no longer interested in the subject you are majoring in, it’s not too late to shift to a subject you like. What is your major and what is the major you would pick for your second BA? More information would make it easier for the really smart people on this forum to help you, but I would certainly not start it by lying. Even if you don’t get caught (which you probably will) you will just feel guilty.

This must be a mantra that needs repeating: Never lie to the University. You will get caught.
Your last course needs to be finished at the UC you attended last, because they are the ones who are granting the final degree.
Additionally, the funding for UC’s has changed by order of the State of California. The UC’s are subsidized by the State which has NO MONEY. If you attempt a 2nd bachelor’s degree, it is completely on your own dime; they will not provide financial aid because they are out of money.

Additionally, the UC staffs talk to each other since they are part of the same system. They talk often AND they know their counterparts at the Cal States. Did you not think about that in attempting to bypass the system?

Most UCs don’t accept students for a 2nd bachelor’s degree. There are a few exceptions, such as UCLA accepting students for a 2nd Bachelor’s degree if it is in nursing. Also UC berkeley and UC davis accept students for a 2nd bachelor’s degree if it is in an engineering discipline as long as the 1st bachelor’s wasn’t. Because of this I would want to transfer prior to graduating. I attend UC davis and am not happy with my ending GPA. This is why I would like to go back to a CC and from there transfer to another UC before the degree would be posted to my record. I agree with you that lying probably isn’t the wisest thing but was just thinking if it would be possible. Like I said, it seems illogical since it would be too easy for students to just make up for poor GPAs by re-transferring to another school prior to graduating from the original school that they transferred to. I don’t know what information is available to admissions boards. For instance, if you transferred to a university, what’s to stop you from only sending in your CC transcripts instead of sending in all of your transcripts including an unfinished degree at another university?

You are correct as far as no funding on your 2nd bachelor’s, but I wouldn’t be attempting a 2nd and only going for my “1st”. Again I’m not sure what information the admissions board has in relation to an applicant’s prior education. If they only know what you submit them, then in theory you can send them your CC transcripts. Even if this worked, on the financial aid side I’d still probably be on my own since I received funding for the maximum number of terms allotted. Just a thought.

I understand what you’re saying but yeah do yourself a favor and forget about that plan right now. It’s not going to get you anywhere and at worse you could lose your chance at getting your first degree, since it sounds like you’re thinking of doing it before you graduate. If you haven’t heard of student clearing house they can view your entire academic history, and once they do you could be expelled (if they even let you in). This is the type of mistake that could ruin everything you have worked for. I don’t want to sound like I’m lecturing, especially since I’m only in community college myself, I’m just trying to help you out and convince you not to make such a big mistake that could affect your whole future. You never answered which field you are in and which one you are considering. Like I said that is something the veterans on this site could actually help you out with if you give them some more info to work with.
