Transferring from a MA private uni to an Ivy?

Hey all. I started to consider transferring. I'm probably not in a very good position to transfer, considering my GPA, but hey, crazier things have happened. Although I'll probably have to wait another year to transfer.

HS GPA: 3.3ish (was 3.5, but senioritis...)
ACT: 33
College GPA after 1st semester: 3.53
Financial status: need aid
ECs: High school ECs are very strong, but college, not so much.
Work experience: ASI Security (glorified rent-a-cop)

Schools I'm looking at, in order of preference:
Brown (15)
Northwestern (12 - applied ED in HS)
Emory (20 - waitlisted in HS)

Oh, and I'm currently a freshman at Brandeis University (33).

Reasons for wanting to transfer:
1) Social Scene
2) Academics, academics, academics. The professors that I've had are not what I was expecting. One of my professors blew me off for a project meeting on three different occasions. He's also late to class by eight minutes everyday - it's a running joke in our class. But actually. Also, with the exception of one, my professors could really care less if I'm struggling.

I have a few questions regarding transferring, as I'm unfamiliar with the whole process.
1) What is a "Midterm report?" Are those simply the grades I get on my midterms during the spring semester?
2) If I want to enroll as a sophomore in the fall semester, will they only be able to see my grades from first semester? My first semester GPA is pretty abysmal for transferring. When enrolling, I was big on "the learning experience" and took classes that seemed genuinely interesting/applicable. ever, these classes are also known to be pretty difficult. I've learned my lesson. My second semester schedule, relatively speaking, is a cakewalk even though it's overloaded. I'm expecting a 4.0 2nd semester (2 out of 6 classes are on the top ten easiest classes list at my school, 1 out of 6 has a professor with the best rating for easiness on ratemyprofessor, one class is a guaranteed "A" assuming participation, etc). So by the end of my freshman year, I'll have a 3.801, which seems easier to transfer with.
3) This leads to my third question. If I want to transfer to Brown, should I wait until the conclusion of sophomore year/my fourth semester?
4) I'm very unfamiliar with the college transfer landscape, so with my stats (3.5 college GPA/possibly 3.8, 3.3 HS GPA, 33 ACT), is transferring realistic?

also, in the case that i get rejected, will this have an effect on my financial aid at my current institution?
