Transferring from George Washington University

Hi everyone. I’m a current sophomore at GWU and looking to transfer for my junior year. Looking for some feedback on whether I have a shot at any of the schools I’m applying to. I am applying to Amherst, Brown, Duke (top choice), Harvard, Emory, Vanderbilt, and Yale. My reasons for transferring are entirely academic; I’m looking for a school with really strong Africana/Black Studies and Dance Departments. I detailed how I am looking for a way to bridge my Africana studies with my dance background in my common app essay. More specifically, I am interested in the ways that traumatic experiences infiltrate artistic cultural decisions.

Stats:
College GPA: 3.82, and 4.0 last semester
HS Stats: Top 10 boarding school, 3.5 GPA, 30 ACT
EC’s: I dance with a professional dance company in DC; Doris Duke Conservation Scholar; work with sexual assault survivors Rape, Abuse, Incest National Network (RAINN); Telluride Association Summer Program; and a host of other dance and ethnic based extracurricular activities…

Any input would be much appreciated!

bump. some input would be greatly appreciated

Your GPA certainly seems to meet the cut for most of the colleges.

However I think Harvard and Yale is probably a reach even with your stats. Since they accept literally 1% of transfer applicants (and half are athletes) unless you have done extremely stellar extracurricular (not to downplay your achievements) its hard to get accepted.

As for the rest I think you have a great shot as any another applicants long as you wrote a good personal statement!

@thecoolboy1234, thank you so much for your input. I really do appreciate it!
