Transferring from lac to UCLA or UCB

hey im a student currently studying anthropology and international development at a top 25 lac. I'm not from california, actually my school is about as far away from california as you could possibly get and still call yourself a US student. Id like to transfer to a much bigger school, especially one which has a good reputation in east asia so these two schools are at the top of my list (im caucasian, but would like to work in asia someday). id be aplying to UCB as a development studies major and probably as an anthro major(BA) to UCLA unless anyone knows of a more development focused program there.

what kind of gpa would i need to get at my LAC assuming id be applying for a junior transfer? i could provide more information if need be

bump(10char)

Colby or Bates?
I actually just went through pretty much your exact situation (except I’m a CA resident)…I was a student at a top 30 univ. on the east coast studying IR and econ for two years and decided to transfer to a larger school. I had a 3.6 GPA, great essays, EC’s, etc. I applied to most of the UC’s (Berkeley, LA, SB, SD, Davis, Irvine, SC) thinking I was a sure bet for most of them, especially since I got into almost all of their honors programs as a freshman applicant a couple years ago.

Nope. Rejected from everywhere but Davis and SC. I don’t know what your GPA is, but I really would not count on Berkeley, especially as an out of state student. The UC’s are really cutting back on 4 year transfers (essentially admitting none) since there have been so many CCC transfer students the last several years. So basically…don’t get your hopes up unless you’ve got a perfect 4.0.

eww… guess im michigan bound then
