Transferring from Northwestern as a junior-year Econ Major

I'm currently an Econ Major freshman at Northwestern. I have a mediocre GPA (3.525 cum. and 3.7 major). I'm just not happy at NU, so I was looking into transferring for junior year. I got a great summer internship and I've got pretty good extracurriculars. High school I had a 3.6, 800 CR 760 Math, and great extracurriculars.

The thing is that Northwestern Econ is number 10, and I'm not interested in the really technical UChicago/MIT/Caltech. I would basically only transfer for East Coast Ivies or along those levels for West Coast. Staying at NU is not really a favorable option for me.

What are your guys thoughts, and what do you think I should do to prepare?

Pretty much what all potential transfers need to do:

Bring up your gpa next year.

Get to know profs/instructors so that you can get great LORs.

Write excellent essays with a solid reason for wanting to transfer.

Keep up your college ECs.
