Hey everyone. I'm a second year UCSD student considering trying to transfer to UC Berkeley. I've seen a lot of information about unit limits, but most of the official information seems limited to Community College transfers, and the stuff on their website for UC to UC transfers seems vague. I will enter my third year with about 150 quarter units, plus probably a few more from summer session. The limit to be considered a junior transfer appears to be 134 quarter units from what I've seen on Berkeley's website. Do these units include AP credits from high school? Without those I would fit in the junior transfer criteria, having roughly 110 units. If they do count, the transfer application still has an option for Senior Transfer. Will they even consider me as a senior transfer? The information I've found so far seems to point to the answer being no. Thanks in advance for your help, everyone. It means a lot.

no senior transfers at UCB. you don’t have to use AP credits. remember that you have to include all of your units from this year so if fall, winter, and spring units will put you over the cap you will be denied.

When you say that I don’t have to use AP credits, does that mean that I’ll have to go back and do a lot of low level classes to fill in the missing AP credits if I’m accepted? Or will it be like Community College transfers where they’ll let me pass out of those classes and just not give me the units?

If I remember correctly, UC’s will not count AP credits towards the unit cap if they are responsible for putting you over the junior-level transfer cap; however, they will still give you credit for the classes your AP credits satisfied. If I were you, I’d contact UCB admissions to confirm.

Correct me if I am wrong but I think UCI is the only UC that allows senior transfers.
