Transferring From uOttawa to Toronto

Transferring to University of Toronto, what do I need to do?
I need Information about transferring from my University, The University of Ottawa to The University of Toronto for Fall 2011. I am currently in General Science and looking into going into a smilar 3 year program and open to 4 year programs.

My long term goal is to ultimately apply for Medical School AND Law. Therefore I need to write both the LSAT and the MCAT. I need the best recommendations to do so and I need to know what I can do so I can write the MCAT and if that doesn't work just do the LSAT.

I also need to know the dates, the final day that they accept applications to transfer. What are my chances of getting in? I came from a very reputable private school in my high school days and currently average grades here in university of ottawa seeing that it's only been 15 days since my second semester of my first year started.
I need to know what makes U of T special and unique from uOttawa, what does U of T have that Ottawa doesn't. What programs do they have in both of those faculties that uOttawa does not have? I need to convince my parents as to why it's the leading school I want to transfer to. They have no objection paying every penny as long as it's worth it and as long as I have concrete information on what is needed for that school. At this point I am open to anything in the sciences/law. I dont really care I just want to transfer out over there.

Please and Thank you!

I understand I need the 105D form as well from OUAC

Thank you! Please Help!

If you can’t answer this yourself, why do you want to transfer?

Perhaps you should contact the UofT admissions office with specific questions?

You will need to prepare for both the LSAT and MCAT.

You might want to check out studentawards.com or the Canada subforum here:

Well I cannot answer it because I dont have the resources to answer them and in general not everyone knows how to answer their own questions. I know that U of T is an amazing school but when I talk to my parents I can’t just tell them " U of T is amazing and better than uOttawa" and they magically respond “Okay! we will gladly pay thousands of dollars on intangible facts!” It doesn’t work that way.

I just need some guidance, not criticism about my question. Please and thank you, just tr and help instead.

I need to be on this website so I can formulate my ideas into solid questions into which I can ask a Toronto Admissions Staff

^ I’m trying to help you. Really. The best argument you can produce for transferring will be grounded in your own personal needs. Why do you feel that you need to transfer? If you answer that question, it will be much easier to build a strong case to present to your parents.

An internet connection is the only resource you should need to do your research and learn the facts about UofT.

Well I need solid basis, I need a bit more about the university for my parent’s own knowledge regardless of what I know and think. So please, if you can answer my question from my first post, by all means help me. thats that and I’m not gonna argue anymore on this matter with you. this is not a debate room I’m sorry…

if you can help me and answer my requests great, if you can’t, you know where the “logout” button is. thanks a lot and greatly appreciated

anyone have any answers to my question?

Hey I currently go to U of T the Mississauga Campus and I work at the admissions office. I could tell you why I transfered to Uof T to begin with… For once it has an amazing international reputation and it invest thousands of dollars yearly in research. If your career is scientifically inclined this is a great privilege to come here because you are surrounded by the brightest faculty in their fields. This September the new Academy of Medicine is coming to the Mississauga Campus. This academy is run jointly with that of St. George… I do recommend that you give this campus a shot as there will be less students in your class and more exposure to professors. I can only help you with information about the Mississauga Campus because this is where I go now and where I work. I still don’t know enough about St George to give you any opinion on the matter… For Mississauga the application to transfer online is through ouac and the deadline is March 1st. We will also look at your high school Grade 12 requirement courses and they have to be above 84% if you want to go into life sciences, these are: ENG4U/ CHM/BIO. If you took any of these courses in university we also look at them… Also your average has to be above a 3.5CGPA or a B+. I hope that answers some of your questions if you want to validify my answer I suggest you call the admissions office.

U of T does not offer three year degrees. I would suggest that you spend some time reading about the different programs offered by U of T on their website. You will get an idea of what academic stats you’ll need to be a competitive candidate for transfer. Since you are a first year student, you have plenty of time to determine what you want your career path to be. Very few students end up with focussed interests in both medicine and law. One may become a frontrunner as your undergrad career plays out. They are very different careers. You have a while before you need to think about writing either the LSAT or the MCAT.

If you do well academically in your undergrad years, you will have a chance at either path, regardless of what university you attended. You might want to consider the fact that it is probably more difficult to gain a high gpa at U of T than it is at U of O. This doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t want to transfer, it’s just something to think about. There are many good reasons to attend U of T but it’s certainly not necessary in order to go on to either law or medicine.

I have a daughter who has applied to the Visual Arts program joint with the Sheriden Instutite at the Mississauga campus. She has three offers from US colleges, and one from U of Ottawa. We are wondering when we will hear as she has to notify the US colleges by May 1. Can you help???
