Transferring from UW to a UC

I currently live in California and am planning on going to UW. However, if money is a problem for me in the future then I might want to transfer to a UC. If I do that, would I have to pay out of state tuition to UC because I was previously in Washington, or can I still pay in state tuition at UC because I was born and raised in CA?

This is the wrong forum to be asking that question. Contact UC

You would be paying out of state tuition at UW and instate at UC, I am fairly sure. You don’t lose your residency when you go to college. So if you are a CA resident, but go to UW for a year, then switch to a UC, it would be in state tuition at a UC. Residency is determined by many things, where you grew up, where you and your parents pay taxes, where you bank accounts are, where you vote, etc. UW will not treat you as a WA state resident and CA will not remove you as a resident in one school years time.

I am also curious. I am going to UW and I live in Cali. Can you transfer from UW to UC??
