I go to a private high school and I was heavily bullied my Junior school year (this past year) and It has caused me a lot of problems and has disrupted my studies, to say the least. I am thinking about transferring to my local public school for my Senior year. Would it be damaging to my application if colleges saw that I had transferred for my senior year of high school?

additional info: I am ranked in the top 40% of a class of 200 at the private school and I believe with the grade transfer I would rank among the top 10% at the public high school in a class of 600. This isn't the "real" reason I would like to transfer, but all effects of the transfer must be considered.

Lots of people transfer for their senior years for many different reasons. If you believe that you will be happier, and do well, at the public school, then transfer. It is OK for you to make an appointment with the guidance office there to talk about this even before you make the final commitment. The guidance counselor will be able to look at your academic record so far, and will be able to answer most of these questions.

Good luck!

Thanks a lot! I never thought of scheduling a meeting with the guidance office.

GO ahead, but what are you going to do about letters of recommendation? It would probably be best for you to ask two teachers for a letter before you leave.
