Is it easier to get into Haas through Berkeley or by transferring? What's the transfer acceptance rate?

What do you mean by your first question? Through Berkeley? If what you meant was getting admitted as a transfer and then switching, then no, Haas doesn’t allow you to do so.

If what you meant was the difference between getting into Haas a freshman and a transfer, I’d say go with the former. You will be applying as undeclared as a freshmen, and it will be much easier considering this year the 7-course breadth has been dropped for transfer applicants.

The transfer acceptance rate last year was hovering about 25%, because a lot of the applicants did not complete the 7-course breadth. However, since it has been dropped this year, I predict the rate would be about ~10%, that is, 1 in 10 applicants will be admitted to Haas. Don’t quote me on that, just my 2 cents. If you are still in high school and have great stats, apply as a freshmen, period.

What if everyone gets scared and applies to a less impacted major to up there chances? It could up the chances for Haas applicants. sparkyboy, you’ve probably thought about this already. haha

Lol, I knew at least 15 people at my school with GPA 3.8+ applying to Haas this year, so I don’t think most people will chicken out as you describe. Plus, potential Haas applicants would most likely apply to Econ/Poli Econ if they are scared of rejecting by Haas anyway, but Econ at Cal is still a crowded major lol

Damn, are these well rounded kids? haha

Idk them quite well, but having a 3.8+ doesn’t guarantee a slot at Haas anw. Admission uses a “hollistic” application-view, so one could never know whether one will be accepted, especially at Cal and LA lol

Hmm thats very true. By the way, what are your plans?

Despite the restrictions loosening up for this application period, I’m not scurred. I’m still applying.

I’m pretty sure a lot of people will be hesitant to apply but in the grand scheme of things does that mean the acceptance rate will actually increase because of that? I don’t think it will.

^ That’s the spirit! If you are a well-rounded applicant and you think you can get in, why not? Sure the acceptance rate would most likely decrease, but like Rep Angela of Cal say, we don’t know you will get in with those stats or not, but we do know you won’t get in if you won’t apply, so apply now. Lol

@mikey: I’m not a Haas applicant lol, just chime in. CS major, also applying to Cal and crossing my finger :D

Wow thats a very good point!..CS is awesome!

Do you guys know if we can find the resume template online yet?
