Hi, I am currently a freshman at the University of Massachusetts-amherst and want to transfer into Ohio State- main campus. I currently have a 3.35 gpa and have completed 14 college credits and have 18 credits in progress. In high school I got a 3.4 gpa and a 19 on my ACT. I was just wondering what my chances of getting into Ohio State are as a transfer student with under 30 credits?

Please, any advice is helpful.

From comments I’ve read in several different threads, apparently transferring to OSU is relatively easy in comparison to applying as a freshman, and with stats less impressive than yours. That’s all I got, lol.

Thanks! If anyone else knows anything about admissions at ohio state please feel free to add any comments.

Your college GPA is high for transferring to OSU, but OSU will look at your ACT if you transfer now. If you complete 30 semester credits/45 quarter credits, OSU will only take your college GPA into account and ignore your high school GPA and ACT.

Thanks for your replies! Does anyone know how good my chances of getting in are with the low ACT score, because when i apply i’ll have less than 30 credits. The ACT score is the only thing that worries me about getting in.

Are you OOS? I think you’d get in based on your performance in college even though you have less than 30 credits…and especially if you’re out of state.

Yeah i’m out of state I was just more worried about about the ACT score and thanks for the response.

Sorry, I meant that i feel your success at UMass will supersede your low ACT score. It is evident you are capable of a successful college career, and I think they will take that into consideration, regardless.

alright thanks for clearing that up, anyone one else that could offer any additional information about my chances feel free to post more comments! Thanks

I’m planning to transfer from Columbus state with 46 credits and a 3.9 gpa, what are my chances? I know my GPA is high but I’m worried I won’t get in because Columbus state isn’t thought of as hard.

from the answers i’ve gotten about my application I’d say you have a pretty good chance of getting, especially with 46 credits and a 3.9 gpa

I am also trying to apply to Ohio State from West Virginia University, I’m going to call admissions tomorrow to discuss how I would go about applying, because I have completed 15 credits under a 2.7 GPA (not that high, but I had a lot going on with family in the first semester that may excuse it) and I am currently in 15 credits, and I should come out with a 3.4 at least, which would give me around a 3.00 for both semesters. I don’t want OSU to look at any of my high school stuff so I’m currently trying to get as high as a GPA as I possibly can in order to transfer. I believe if you tell them that you wish to wait on sending your transcript in, they will wait to evaluate your entire folder until both semester grades come in. I have no idea what my chances are, but I hope that I can get in…maybe admissions can give me some advice when I call tomorrow.

thanks again everyone that posted and if anyone has anything else to add feel free

hi I was wondering if anyone could help with a question I have for applying to OSU as a transfer.

I am having a technical issue with the essay portion of the application. When I try to copy/paste my essay from a word doc, the indent of the first paragraph disappears. I can’t add a new one using “tab” because that will just tab me out of selecting the text box for the essay. I tried adding a few spaces to makeshift an indent. When I hit “save” those spaces disappear. I also tried copy/pasting a tabbed space, but same thing happens when I hit “save.”

Anyone else having this issue, and anyone know of any solutions to this?

Thanks in advance
