Transferring into UCLA from OOS 4-Year

Hi, I'm going to be a freshman this fall semester at CUNY Queens College in NYC, and I would like to transfer to UCLA after my sophomore year. I couldn't apply to UCLA for my freshman year because I really slacked off my first two years of high school. However, I had a 4.0 for my junior and senior years of high school and I got a 2190 on the SATs. I've taken a couple of college courses before (while in high school) and I will be able to maintain a GPA of a 3.8 or above at CUNY Queens College (not to sound pretentious).

What are my chances of transferring from CUNY Queens College to UCLA with a 3.8 GPA or higher with junior-level standing? How can I make sure that my credits will transfer over? Have you or anyone that you know of transferred from Queens college or any CUNY school to UCLA or any UC school?

What can I do to give myself the best possible chance of being accepted as an OOS transfer student into UCLA? Will taking certain courses help? Will taking part in a lot of ECs and volunteering make a difference?

Thank you

I think you have a slim chance. However, be careful about the courses you are taking, you need to take the same courses like in TAG or they might not transfer and you need an extra year to complete you degree even UCLA accepts you. Its hard enough for CA CC students to be accepted by UCLA, its even harder if you are OOS. I think you need to be at 3.9gpa or so to be more confident.

Thanks for your reply! I’ll make sure I go according to the TAG and I’ll complete my GEs before applying. If anyone has any more feedback to add on, please feel welcome to do so. Has anyone transferred from an OOS to UCLA or know someone who did?

I also heard aid is rough for OOS transfers. I wish you the best though. You seem like you have a chance.
