Transferring: Need Advice

Hi,

I'm thinking about transferring. I need to make a decision soon about whether or not I should file an application. The main thing that is stopping me is that I feel really awkward asking for recommendations.

I don't want to talk to my parents or friends about this. Of course, if I get into the school I'm applying to, I will definitely talk to them. But right now I'd rather not discuss just the application part.

I don't know why this is so hard for me but it is. I just need an adult to give me a push.

I just feel so awkward asking for a recommendation to leave a college! I'm also not sure if my stats are good enough to get into the college I want to go to...I'd really rather only apply and spend that much time/money if I have somewhat of a shot. I don't want to post details here but if a parent wants to PM me I'd be glad to talk to you.

Thanks.

You should take this question to the Transfer Forum. Click on “Discussion Home” in the upper-left of this screen, and then scroll down to find it. The posters there will have lots of useful ideas for you!

Don’t let fear or awkwardness stop you from asking for recommendations to transfer. There’s something sparking an interest in moving to another college you owe it to yourself to investigate, as long as you can afford it, etc.

Be prepared to answer the prof’s question w/ why you want to transfer. (you’ll also need a updated resume). Good luck.

And as happymom said, check out the transfer forum.
