Transferring out of a private art school

Hey, so i am currently a first semester sophomore at Columbia College Chicago and have maintained a GPA of 3.8. I want to transfer to a NYU, USC Or UCLA as a junior but have heard that they do not transfer credits from private art schools. I have taken GenEd classes and a few core-art classes but they seemed manageable, nothing particularly challenging. Extracurriculars are not a problem. However, i am confused about transferring out of a private art school, what is the admission process regarding private-art school students because i am aware that the grading system in art-schools is rather subjective and can seem a bit easy at times, so what do i do?

What’s your parents’ budget?

Columbia College Chicago is not solely an art school!. You should think of it more as a small liberal arts college with very strong programs in the performing arts and design. Whether you are a viable transfer candidate for your target colleges/universities will depend on your grades and the specific coursework you have taken. Contact the transfer admissions offices at your targets, and ask for details on the transfer application process.

@MYOS1634 i am an international student and my parents were in financial debt until last year and now that i can drop some of my loans and be backed by my parents, i really would like to use the financial soundness to up my grades and take a shot at a good university, if nothing worse. I know that UCLA prioritizes student from CCC but i will mail them regarding the issue. Thanks a lot.

@happymomof1 Hey, so being a film student i have juggled my coursework between film classes and GenEds and i am worried about the potency of the film classes in my application ( I will be applying for film). But you are right, i should probably mail them and see what’s up.
