Hi, i wanted to know if you can transfer out of community college to a four year school after 1 year.
My gpa is a 2.99(yep, and i have a weighted gpa from 2 ap's) and depending on the first semester of senior year could be higher. My mock act is a 24 and i am taking it in the next couple of weeks im pretty sure.
The cc route is what my mom tells me every day(which is annoying, since id rather go to a 4 year). Since Santa Monica College is the cc near me, will i be able to get out super fast?

Yes, you can transfer after 1 year. Look at the Common Data Set for the 4 year college section D to see what they consider for transfers. I believe the UCs expect you to transfer after two years but I’m sure more knowledgeable people will weigh in.

Depends on the transfer policies of the schools you apply to. If you’re thinking of applying to a UC or CSU, they only accept junior level transfers, so you will not be able to transfer after 1 year.

well im interested in a bunch of 4 year colleges(iv’e been on college board). Im still going to apply to 4 year schools like csu’s, and redlands, and some other oos and in state privates. I was on some websites like pepperdine and pacific, and uoregon, and apparently i only need a certain #of classes being take.

Why your mom wanted you to take cc route? $$?

It’s plausible, but it’s going to be extremely difficult. You’re going to have to take +18 units a semester and take 6-8 units very winter/summer. I would sugget you take a couple of classes this upcoming spring while you’re still in high school. And also attended next summer. Like I said, it’s possible but mostly likely it won’t happen. You need to consider your gpa as well. I would just take 14ish units each semester for two years while takin a class very winter and summer. That way you can go to a good UC and you won’t ruin your gpa.
